The APKiteboard model 2005 is released with new design and slightly modified outline. However, the most important change applies to the inner life of the boards.

Instead of using a Herex core, AP now use a wood core. Wood has significant advantages: the pressure resistance, tensile strenght and shearing resistance is much higher. That means the boards are nearly unbreakable. While flexing, the reset speed is higher. When riding and jumping one will notice this feature very positively.

The new boards have much more flex than before. In connection with the uge concave in the surface (which is responsible for the great edgegrip) one get the right supercharging for the big jump. Like drawing a bow, one gets shot away.

Of course AP kept the good things. APKiteboards are still produced in sandwich technology. All APKiteboards 2005 have the approved concave in the bottom side between the footstraps, which makes the boards stiff in this area. Beyond the foot straps the tips turn into straight shape, so that most of the flex is in the tips for faster and smoother riding. The symbiosis of plane and concave surfaces make the boards get planing very early, steady and easy to ride and are great for manoeuvres. They ensure better riding on gusts and smooth landing.
What has also changed: APK now uses inserts made out of light metal. For the footstraps AP uses stainless steel dowel pins that are screwed in and are secured with Locktide. This makes the assembly of the footstraps easier.

Wipika is offering a CLS upgrade kit (free of charge) for all bars in the September and October production runs. Some of the Central Line Systems produced during this time were supplied with a shorter setting, which is not suited for optimal performance. Wipika is providing an upgrade kit consisting of the following items:
